Tethered: A line which someone or something is attached (as for security).
Here we are again, to those of you reading, I appreciate you going on this journey of writing/blogging with me.
So there’s a song that Phil Wickham sings, and one part really stood out to me where he sings. “I don’t want to miss the beauty of Heaven all around me, Your power and Your mercy, the greatness of Your love. I don’t want to lose the wonder of being in Your presence, to be with You, my God. Everything I am, I throw into Your hands.”
Wow wow wow!! That stopped me with whatever I was doing. Think about it, Heaven is ALL around us! How often am I taking this for granted? I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about that word “tethered” and it’s meaning, and how it applies to my life. I’ve also been a lot more emotional, and no that’s not just because I’m a female lol, it’s because I’ve been allowing walls that I’ve kept up for so long to come tumbling down. See, no matter how high, thick, and sturdy our walls/facades are (or we think they are), God’s love is still securely tethered to us. He wants those walls to come down so all of that love that He has for us can come rushing in to fill all those voids and spaces that we had tried to fill with anything and everything but Him.
Another part that stuck out was “I don’t want to lose the wonder of being in Your presence”. Phew! I am SO guilty of going through the motions sometimes, (yuck) we all do though, so at least we are all in this together. But let’s also get out of that together as well, I never want to take for granted the goodness of the Father’s presence. What a beautiful, life changing, transforming place to be! I want to bask in it, lose myself in it, and in turn find myself in it. (that’s the only place where you don’t need GPS people)
I love the message version of Matthew 5:3-9 “3 “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule. 4 “You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you. 5 “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought. 6 “You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat. 7 “You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for. 8 “You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world. 9 “You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family”. Now, put tethered in place of the word blessed, in all those things, you are securely tied into the Lord. Isn’t that such a secure feeling?!
I know this may not be profound or deep as you’re reading this (and if you are thanks!) but to me, this is so vitally important! I want my life to be tethered to the Father, intimately, fiercely, passionately, longingly, and desperately. Because I know that whatever is thrown my way, He is my lifeline, my safe shelter, my warrior, lover of my soul, ready to take on anything because of His love for me. 1 John 3:1 “Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children.” Throw yourself into His hands, you won’t be disappointed when all is said and done.
Be encouraged, beautiful humans. Know you are so loved, without a shadow of a doubt.
Let me forever be tethered in Your love.
