Is Your Oil Full?

Hey friends, it's me again, this time coming for you at a reasonable hour instead of my regular 2 am posting! Shocking I know! Y'all, the Lord has been burning this in my heart for a few weeks now, I've been chewing, praying, dwelling, and seeking the Lord about this topic. This is something I don't want anyone to miss. So please please please don't check out, hear my heart on this. With the most recent topic that's been going on that I'm sure all of you are aware of is the spreading of revival. Look, I get it, that's a word that's been thrown around and I know it can be a controversial topic, but this is what the Lord's been revealing to me. Revival or not, the Lord is pouring out his anointing oil on His kids; this is an invitation.

It led me to Matthew 25 where Jesus is teaching the Parable about the Ten Virgins. And this is too good to condense so let me share the story. 1 “When my coming draws near, heaven’s kingdom realm can be compared to ten maidens who took their oil lamps and went outside to meet the bridegroom and his bride. 2-4 Five of them were foolish and ill-prepared, for they took no extra oil for their lamps. Five of them were wise, for they took flasks of olive oil with their lamps. 5 When the bridegroom didn’t come when they expected, they all grew drowsy and fell asleep. 6 Then suddenly, in the middle of the night, they were awakened by the shout ‘Get up! The bridegroom is here! Come out and have an encounter with him!’ 7 So all the girls got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 But the foolish ones were running out of oil, so they said to the five wise ones, ‘Share your oil with us, because our lamps are going out!’ 9 ‘We can’t,’ they replied. ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. You’ll have to go and buy some for yourselves!’ 10 “While the five girls were out buying oil, the bridegroom appeared. Those who were ready and waiting were escorted inside with him and the wedding party to enjoy the feast. And then the door was locked. 11 Later, the five foolish girls came running up to the door and pleaded, ‘Lord, Lord, let us come in!’ 12 “But he called back, ‘Go away! Do I know you? I can assure you, I don’t even know you!’ 13 “That is the reason you should always stay awake and be alert, because you don’t know the day or the hour when the Bridegroom will appear.”

Whether or not you believe there's a Revival happening right now, I can't shake that this is an invitation for us to draw near to the Lord. To press into Him, He wants to fill our oil to overflowing! But in order to receive that oil, we have to respond, we have to be prepared. What does that look like? I am so glad that you asked! I am by far no scholar in all things biblical, but as a worshipper, I can tell you this with all confidence; it's time to go deeper, it's time to set aside our own agendas as wait patiently for the bridegroom with our empty vessels extended towards Him when He arrives. I don't want to miss this. I don't want to get so caught up in my own stuff that I miss His invitation. If that means that worship goes longer in your normal Sunday service, and pushes past the comfortable, then press in. If that means that you miss out on certain things that you want to be doing, miss out. If that means you're stomach is growling because it's past your lunchtime, let it growl. I realize that none of this is convenient, but may I ask you a question? Where does it say in the word that the Lord wants to make everything convenient? I've not once read that, and I don't think that's on the mind of the Lord. But the beauty is, His timing is perfect, we just have to push past our "stinkin thinkin" and put it all aside for a glimpse of His presence. But hold on, do we really just want a glimpse? I know for me, I want to be immersed. If it's 2 am and His whisper is calling me, you best believe I'm going to hop up from my bed and respond! I don't want to miss this!!! I don't want to be one of the virgins that are missing the wedding party because I was lacking. Nor do I want to hear the bridegroom tell me that He doesn't know me, and then turn me away to the darkness of the night. It's evidently clear that we will never know that day or hour when He will arrive, just as it says in vs 13. But what we can know to do, is be prepared, alert, and ready. I want to have my five extra flasks about ready to burst because I refused to be stagnant in my pursuit of His presence. I want to be a forerunner of His oil, I want to be able to run to the weary and close to sleeping to give them the oil. I don't want you to miss this, friends. Our invitation is right in front of us, will you accept it? So I ask you this before I sign off, how's your oil?
