In Every Season

This week has been a time of reflection for me. I’ve recently had to make some changes in my life, (and yes all is well). And with these changes it’s given me a lot of time to think back on choices, decisions I’ve made, and so forth. A new year is quickly approaching and there are going to be more choices and decisions to make. One thing I know with absolute certainty is that God remains steadfast, faithful, and good in every season, no matter what that season may be. There is no greater peace than knowing that He has our best interest in mind. We’ve just finished eating turkey and pumpkin pie, gone around the table to talk about what we are grateful for, put on some stretchy pants and taken a nap. Now what? Is Thanksgiving the only time where we sit back and reflect on what we are grateful and thankful for, and then proceed to post it on social media? Now let me preface here and point out that I am by no means pointing any fingers, these are just my rambling thoughts as I watch an extremely cheesy Christmas hallmark movie at 11:50pm.
Lately, I’ve had to shout my thankfulness in the middle of my feels, (can I get an amen in the back?!) and verbally say aloud the things that I am grateful for. Why? Because I want to speak them into existence, I want to remind myself that there is ALWAYS something to be grateful AND thankful for. Look, I get it. It’s not easy, and no, half the time we probably don’t even feel like it. But our words are POWERFUL! They have life and become activated when we say them out loud. It’s time to remind our souls that we mean business when times or situations don’t look like how we’d like them to. David often wrote and reminded his soul of the truth. In Psalm 94:18-19 he said, “When I screamed out, “Lord I’m doomed!” your fiery love was stirred and you raced to my rescue. Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.”
I’m beyond grateful and thankful for the people that God has surrounded me with, people that encourage, lift up, fight along side me through battles, will be a lending ear, a shoulder to cry on, a warm smile, someone who listens, hears from God and is willing to take the time to speak into my life. So today, the day after Thanksgiving, I want to say how thankful and grateful I am for those who hold a special place in my heart. For those who have done the things I’ve mentioned above, YOU are so important to me.
So, no matter what, I will remind myself of God’s infinite goodness. I encourage you this holiday season, speak aloud the things that you are thankful and grateful for, tell those in your life how much they mean to you. Not only will you feel better, but they will also. So there you have it, it’s now just about 1am and my rambling has come to an end. Enjoy your leftover turkey, and may your turkey coma’s be wonderful this weekend!
